Česká Pošta (Czech Post)
Czech Post (Česká Pošta) is the official postal company of the Czech Republic. It has its headquarters in Prague and employs about 31,000 individuals. Although mainly operating in the Czech Republic, Czech Post also offers mail delivery services to other countries. The establishment of this company dates back to January 1, 1992, when the accounting systems for postal services and telecommunications services were split up, leading to the creation of separate administrative structures for each sector. Discussions continued on the future framework of postal services, eventually resulting in the decision to transform Czech Post into a state-owned enterprise. This historic move was made at the highest government level and took effect on January 1, 1993, coinciding with the formation of the independent Czech Republic. As a state-owned entity, Czech Post carries on the traditions of the pre-war state enterprise Czechoslovak Post, proving its relevance and viability in the market economy.
